Busy, Busy, Busy!

Whew! I have been busy trying to get stuff done for Paige's, who's six today, party on Saturday. I still can't believe she's six! I know I have said it a hundred times, but it goes by sooo fast!

I have been working steadily on swaps and on Paige's shirt for her party, so I do have something to show:)

100_3430
This is heading "across the pond" for imagingermonkey's Russian Doll Swap. I made the sofite, the covered buttons, and the pushpins. The stamp and wooden doll came from etsy, and the fabric is from my stash :)

This is for a pushpin swap on Swap-Bot.

And this is Paige's rockin' shirt for her Hannah Montana party:

I haven't made clothing in so long. Not that I made this, but it was fun to make something wear-able. I also made the matching pony tail holders. I used the stencil from here. I stitched around it with embroidery thread too. It was soo fun!

My flower garden quilt has done some growing as well:

Someone asked for a tutorial on the spool dolls I made awhile back and I am going to try to get that done next week :)

Have a great day ya'll!

Lots O' Miscellany

I  have lots to post about so here goes....

Atlanta was fantastic! I took my camera but forgot my flash card, so no pics. It was fun though. We went to the Braves game on Friday and shopped on Saturday. I was lucky enough to talk Brice into going to ICE on Saturday and I had a ball. I got some new Sublime Stitching patterns, some yummy homemade soap and this fab necklace from here.

100_3307

We got home and of course I went thrifting and yard sale-ing. I found all this fab stuff this week:

100_3299
This groovy tin was just to great to pass up.

100_3304
Jadite refrigerator dish. I paid $5.00 but I think it was worth it :)

100_3316
Cute cross stitch welcome pic. It's destined for matting and a better frame, and glass that fits.

I got some great craft books in ATL that I can't wait to dig into:
100_3314

I have started working on a quilt for my Doll Quilt Swap 4 partner!

100_3311

Paige has learned to swim underwater. She's getting so big!
100_3266
She's also getting very strong willed. She vetoed my idea for a cupcake themed birthday party and chose this Hannah Montana Cake instead. (that's our secretary's photostream) She turns six next week and I think there are something like 3 dozen kids invited so I ordered a bunch of cupcakes anyway. (we have a SUPER large family and this is her first "other" friends party) I am planning on taking her and some of her friends to the movies on her actual birthday. The week after we are going to go camping at the river for a long July 4th weekend too. I can't wait!

Have a great day ya'll!
(Blogiversary prizes went out today! Sorry for the delay!)

I made the flower from a vintage trim I received in a swap because it matched the yarn perfectly. I am sure you could use some rick rack or lace for the same thing. Just hand sew some basting stitches along the length of the bottom of the trim you decide to use. Pull it up and distribute gathers evenly. Sew a tack stitch in the middle when you get the desired look. I used a vintage button as the center of mine, but a cute covered button or even hand sewn beads would look good for this I think.

These were made to fit the Dixie coffee cups available in grocery stores. I have received a lot of compliments on mine, so I think they would make an excellent gift for any coffee lover. They work up very nice and quick!

Have a great day ya'll!

Paige won a fishing trophy this past weekend. She was thrilled!

I will be replying to all comments later tonight or tomorrow. I am soo behind on e-mails. But this blog will be the last until the end of next week, with the exception of the cozy pattern. VBS is this week and Brice and I plus friends are heading to Atlanta (and IKEA!) for the weekend. Have a great week ya'll and congrats again to the winner!

Happy Blogiversary!

I started this blog a little over a year ago, and I can not say how much I have enjoyed it. Being a SAHM, it sometimes feels like I am a little bit disconnected from the outside world. The people i have "met" and the things I have gotten to participate in have been a big help in making me feel more connected. So, to celebrate, I am going to have a giveaway! There will be three lucky winners. One will win this apron:
100_2406

One will win a bag full of fun scraps, and the other will win a surprise envelope filled to the brim with all kinds of goodness. All you have to do is leave a comment on what the most memorable thing from my blog was this past year. Did you love it? Hate it? Just let me know. I also want to open up to any questions or suggestions you have. I'll take any comments and questions until Sunday, June 1. I will draw the winners and post them on Monday, June 2. So get commenting!

Now, onto my very memorable Memorial Day! The day started so bright and warm. Then, all of a sudden, a storm came and knocked over my bradford pear in the front yard
100_3029

After calling some friends at the utility company, we were off to a Sunday school get together. The girls had a blast fishing and frolicking.

And then, another storm came
100_3121

This time it blew a huge branch from 50 ft. up onto a friend's brand new car. With her in it! She was ok, but scared and we stayed inside the rest of the day and tried not to get around any trees.

The girls and I also had a little plant fun last week. I am notorious for killing anything I try to grow, but so far these have stayed alive. Our little dish gardens:

Sassy, Sassy Aprons!

I joined the Sassy Apron Swap this time after seeing the many wonderful aprons the first time and after learning the joy of an apron. I have had so much fun designing and making this apron it's crazy!

100_2959

It's always fun to add little things that seem to make the apron like ruffles and bias binding

100_2965

or fun flower shaped yoyos with vintage buttons (yes the blue has to come off :) )

100_2960

It's even fun to find a vintage child sized one at grandma's with a flower pocket

100_2974

I am really starting to love aprons.

Check out my milk glass vases

I have a ton more, so I need to get a bigger window sill :)

And look!
Kelsey matches the newly painted chair!

and the sweet hands that did all the painting for me

I've been bad...

a VERY bad blogger lately. There is just so much going on! T-ball, birthdays, I am completely pooped!

Paige graduates kindergarten tomorrow. I can't believe it! Look at this little girl:
S3500307

She's still supposed to be that little. This year has flown by and we are really going to miss our amazing teacher Mr. Willis. To celebrate I got her this:
100_2712

She really loves jewelry. My grandmother took her to the jewelry store to get her first real ring when she was three and an obsession was born. My grandmother got her another one for her birthday this year and gave it to her in January because she was scared she wouldn't make it to June.  As you know, she didn't, but she wanted to make sure both the girls got equally from her. She was very big on that. So, I thought this would be a great throwback to her as well. By the way, she wears both rings everyday and never takes them off without telling me. I wrapped it in this:
100_2714

I got it from Target. Isn't it cute! Look at the rick rack and buttons!

On another note, my blogiversary is May 24! I am planning on giving away an apron and opening up to some questions and suggestions. So be sure to check back on that day. I have 3 birthdays this weekend so I will probably not be back until then :)

Speaking of birthdays, check this out:
S3500326

I just got this pic of Brice and the girls enlarged and framed for his birthday on Friday. He wanted something to remind him of us in his office.

I'll leave ya'll with more pics of what we've been up to :)
