I thought that participating in the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day would be the perfect way to celebrate my 2 yr blogiversary. I have met and been inspired by so many of you, I felt this would be a great way to give back. As most of you know, I am expecting a surprise baby in September. Since I don't know the sex yet, and would love to do a little sewing, all I would like to know is your favorite gender neutral fabric. Help me out here! I am a mom to 2 girls. Girly fabric is the only thing I have!
The prizes, yes prizes, are below:
3 half yards of Japanese fabric and a cute felt mushroom.
A stawberry pincushion, Japanese house quilting book, and another mushroom.
A spool doll, mushroom, and Nicky Epstein's Crochet Flowers book.
Winners will be picked Sunday, May 31 at 12:00 midnight central time.
Good luck and be sure to check Sew Mama Sew for a complete list of giveaways!
Have a great day ya'll!

sorry, I'm the same boat as you. Well I do have a son but most of my fabric (98%) is girly!
I do like the rocket rascals fabric by Michael Miller and the Moda Sock monkey fabric.
Good luck with your baby! I hope you liked the DQS6, did you wash it? I was afraid to do so.

When I make things for friends, I try to go for brights that can go either way. Primaries, especially when used together, seem cheery no matter what the gender!

When I sew for surprise babies, I use bright patterns such as stripes and polka dots that are gender neutral. Animals are also great, like Michael Miller's Tweet, and Spotted Owl by Alexander Henry are sooo adorable for a little boy or girl!

I wait till after the baby is born.
But, I do love Greens and you could always accent with pink or blue depending on the gender

ooh - lots for you to look forward to ! I like Amy Butlers fabrics, eventhough they are not aimed for babies necessarily - I just love the palette of greens she uses and they are pretty gender neutral!

All of these prizes are great! I LOVE the japanese fabric. It's quirky and unique. I also love the little mushroom you are giving with each one. Yay!

fabulous prizes, and though I haven't sewn very much Boy things, aside from a wee little zombie, H's favourite fabrics are the Michael Miller Rocket one as a friend made him some fab bunting with it.. and some japanese fabric with some little robots on which he adores and keeps asking me to make something with, but I only have the smallest scrap so I want to safe it to make it perfect for him, whatever we choose to make.
as for very nuetral I have seen some really cute japanese ones with various little critters in the forest... something like that would be nice and could fit in with a boy's or girl's room.

Anything with nature theme, in shades of yellow and green and brown. Once you have that you can add accessories in more girly or boyish tones.
Thanks for the giveaway

Gender neutral fabric is very hard to find in quilt shops. I made a gender neutral quilt last year and it was hard to find fabric. My go to for gender neutral is usually polka dots and some of the American Jane fabric. Good-luck!

Gingham! I love gingham for boys and girls - especially when mixed with other simple prints like polka dots. Then, once you know the sex you can add complimentary boy or girl prints as accessories!
Congrats on the baby!

Wow...that's a tough one since I have two girls as well. I look at my "baby" fabrics in my stash and always lean towards the girly ones. I do like Michael Miller's Dick and Jane collection and Spotted Owl by Alexander Henry.

Oh, what a great giveaway! Thanks for the chance...
I can't think of any specific fabric line... I tend to mix colors. Black and white works well and can always be mixed with pink or blue later. I also like brights mixed with white sashing/borders for boy or girl... hope this helps! Congrats on the baby-to-be!

i like yellow and I like linen for gender neutral fabrics :)

My favorites for boy babies are greens and browns (not so much blues). I have a 11-month-old boy and he has a lot of browns, creams, greens, and a few blues! But I am laissez-faire about what is "gender neutral"--I'm not going to refuse to put it on him because it's got some purple.

So hard to go neautral --- I'm not a fan of yellow, I do know that!! Just find out now so you can start making girly clothes. :) Just kidding!!!

I like to do polka dots for neutral babies. There was this great sheet set at Target with primary colored polka dots on white background...lets just say the the entire family is seeing spots! cant beat the price for the yardage!
