Giveaway Day!

I thought that participating in the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day would be the perfect way to celebrate my 2 yr blogiversary. I have met and been inspired by so many of you, I felt this would be a great way to give back. As most of you know, I am expecting a surprise baby in September. Since I don't know the sex yet, and would love to do a little sewing, all I would like to know is your favorite gender neutral fabric. Help me out here! I am a mom to 2 girls. Girly fabric is the only thing I have!

Just playing around.

Do you ever feel like your life is a dream? Like things are just going way too good? That is exactly how I feel lately. With the house and the baby, I feel like everything is falling into place. Yeah, I know, talk to me in August when my ankles are swollen to 3x their normal size. LOL.

We spent the weekend mowing the farm. This is a pic of the girls walking up our abnormally long driveway.

And yes, if there is a mess to be had, she will find it.

Changing of the Banner

I finally took down my Valentine's Day banner and put this one up for Memorial Day. Made from wool felt embroidered with letters and joined together by buttons. I used some scrapbooking flowers on the ends and baker's twine as hangers.

Abscessed.

The past week I have been plagued with an abscessed tooth. WORST. PAIN. EVER! i am behind on answering e-mails and will get it done soon. I promise.

Before the tooth pain got excruciating, I managed to do a few things. I attended honors day for Paige.

She got a trophy for being on the Principal's list (all A's) and a medal for being in the top 10 accelerated readers points. This mama was about to burst with pride! Her daddy now owes her a new bike, the result of a promise extracted from him when he was half asleep. When we picked her up from her classroom, she looked at him and said, "Pay up."

I also tried this dress from Sew Hip magazine.

So easy and so cute! P wore it to church Sunday and it looked so warm and summery.

I got the patten for the strawberry pattern online, but can't for the life of me find it.

Last, but not least, I managed to finish my Monday Mini. The pics are a day late, but, my dentist worked me in for an early root canal. After the pain of the weekend, I was almost gleeful to go.

The sun has finally started shining around here again, and the footings on our new house are going to be dug tomorrow! Yay! I think I am going to take some embroidery and some coffee and go outside to enjoy it right now!

Wow...Sometimes I can't follow through.

I see that my post a day in April turned into three whole posts. April turned into an extremely busy and crazy month. T-ball started in earnest and I apparently took for granted how much time coaching a team takes. Then. at one of our first games, right before her at bat, P got a stomach virus. We labored through that for about a day, when B came down with strep. Then P got strep. So we were sickly for about a week and then house stuff took over. Which reminds me that I still need to share a pic of our finished plans with all of you. Things are finally settling into a schedule and it seems like I just now have time to do other things.

I managed to start a spiderweb quilt. I have actually added a few more blocks to it since this pic. The blocks are very time consuming, but the result is so worth it. This will most definitely be an ongoing project. Maybe I'll be done by the end of the year!

We have played outside the handful of days it hasn't been raining lately. Seriously, it has either rained or been very cloudy for the past three weeks. It has us singing rain, rain, go away...

I scored a whole set of my favorite vintage Pyrex bowls from Goodwill for $15.00. Soo exciting!

I crocheted a bunch of flowers using Rose Hip's wonderful pattern.

Then I sewed them onto some square and made a simple nine patch mini quilt. I love how it turned out. Kinda like pop art. This is also my first try at free motion quilting, which was harder than I thought.

That's it, and this time I promise, I won't be so scarce :)
