I am so terrribly excited about Christmas this year! Last year I was a bit down in the dumps. So much was going on with the new baby, trying to get a house finished, etc. I didn't even want to put up a tree. This behavior was not like me, in fact Brice asked several times if I was OK. Well, I made it through and I think my excitement has doubled to make up for last year. We have already written letters to Santa, I have many decorating ideas, and lots of parties to throw. All these things prompted to me to get all Martha and drag hubby and kids through the woods behind our house. I wanted some natural, cheap decorations and was looking to see what I could find.
This was my most exciting find. Mistletoe! Hubby gamely shot it down from high in a tree. I was thrilled. I didn't even know where to find mistletoe until he told me a few years back. I have wanted some ever since and was promised some every Christmas. Brice finally kept his promise!
Holly, which is plentiful in the woods.
A nest. We think this fell from higher up. The girls were of course fascinated by this.
Berries on a dogwood branch, I think. I love the color of the bark. So pretty. Nature is amazing.
All in all, we had a wonderful time. It was a perfect fall day, just crisp enough to have a jacket. The girls enjoyed it immensely and are dying to go back into the woods. I am too!
We also started these little grass thingys from the Target dollar spot. We can't wait to see all their "hair"!
Have a great day ya'll!

A walk in the woods is great for the spirit! So glad you all got out and enjoyed family time together and discovered a little bit of Christmas along the way.
